it all started with a trip
I was travelling and looking for a yarn shop nearby. I found one.
But later, when I was already on my way home, I discovered there had been another shop just around the corner.
A place I would have loved to visit if only I had known it existed. That happened more than once.
Beautiful yarn shops hidden away in small towns. Places with character, atmosphere and stories. Places that never seemed to appear at the right moment.
So I started collecting them.
What began as a personal list slowly grew into something bigger.
Today, knitmapp is a carefully curated map of yarn shops, events and places worth discovering. Built for knitters (and fiber lovers in general) who enjoy travelling, exploring and finding inspiration along the way.

hi, i am Chantal
I’m the founder of knitmapp. I live in the Netherlands with my husband Kevin and our two children, Joep and Puk.
For fifteen years, I worked as a family lawyer. A meaningful profession, but one often centred around conflict, difficult decisions and legal procedures. Earlier this year, I decided to leave law behind and make more room for projects built around creativity, connection and joy.
Knitting has been an important part of my life since 2017. I also share my knitting journey on Instagram as @breidagboek.van.chantal. Whenever I travelled or planned a day trip, I would look for interesting yarn shops along the way. Time and again, I discovered afterwards that there had been another wonderful shop nearby that I never knew existed.
That’s how the idea for knitmapp was born.
My dream is to create a place where fibre lovers can discover special yarn shops, events and creative destinations around the world. Not another business directory, but a carefully curated map filled with inspiration, stories and places worth visiting.
I also believe that some of the best things happen offline. A yarn shop is much more than a place to buy yarn. It’s a place to meet people, exchange ideas, find inspiration and build community. In a world where more and more happens online, I hope knitmapp helps people continue to connect in real life.
I’m building the kind of tool I always wished existed as a knitter. And this is only the beginning.
