SHOP OWNER TERMS

1. About knitmapp

These Shop Owner Terms apply to all shops, businesses, organisations and event organisers that submit information to, or purchase a listing on, knitmapp.

Knitmapp is a carefully selected editorial platform that helps knitters discover yarn shops, events and other knitting-related destinations around the world.

​

By submitting information to knitmapp or purchasing a paid listing, you agree to these Terms.

2. Listings and Subscriptions

Basic Listing

A Basic Listing is a free listing that may include a shop name, address and map location.

A Basic Listing does not guarantee publication, visibility, placement, traffic or permanent inclusion on the platform.

Knitmapp may modify, archive, hide or remove a Basic Listing at any time.


Guide Listing

A Guide Listing is a paid annual subscription that includes an enhanced shop page and related features as described on the website at the time of purchase.


Story Listing

A Story Listing is a paid annual subscription that includes editorial storytelling and enhanced presentation features as described on the website at the time of purchase.

Story Listings may be offered in limited numbers.


Upgrades and Downgrades

Listings may be upgraded during an active subscription period.

Downgrades become effective at the end of the current subscription term.

No refunds are provided for unused portions of a subscription.


Introductory Rates

Any introductory, founding, early access or promotional pricing applies only to the agreed initial subscription period.

Such pricing does not create any entitlement to the same rate upon renewal.

3. Subscription Term and Renewal

Guide and Story Listings are sold as annual subscriptions.

Subscriptions automatically renew for successive twelve-month periods unless cancelled before the renewal date.

​

Knitmapp may adjust subscription pricing for future subscription periods.

​

Any pricing changes will apply only to future renewals.

4. Information Provided by Shop

The shop owner is responsible for ensuring that all submitted information is accurate, complete and up to date.

​

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • business information

  • addresses

  • opening hours

  • websites

  • social media accounts

  • event information

  • product information

  • contact details

 

The shop owner must promptly notify knitmapp of significant changes, including permanent closure, relocation or major changes to the business.

5. Content and Intellectual Property

The shop owner is solely responsible for all content submitted to knitmapp, including:

  • text

  • photographs

  • videos

  • audio

  • logos

  • links

  • other materials

 

The shop owner represents and warrants that they have all necessary rights, permissions and licences to provide such content.

 

The shop owner grants knitmapp a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to publish, display, reproduce, distribute and promote submitted content in connection with the operation and promotion of the platform.

6. Editorial Rights

Knitmapp is an editorial platform.

Knitmapp may edit, shorten, reorganise, format, correct, select, reject or remove submitted content in order to maintain consistency, quality and readability.

Guide Listings

​

Guide content is primarily provided by the shop owner and may be edited by knitmapp.

​

​

Story Listings

 

Story Listings are editorial features created by knitmapp based on information, materials, interviews and submissions provided by the shop owner.

​

The final structure, wording, presentation and editorial choices remain at the sole discretion of knitmapp.

 

Story Listings include one review round for factual corrections. Editorial preferences, stylistic choices and subjective revisions are not included.

7. Platform Fit and Curation

Knitmapp is not an open directory.

​

Knitmapp is a carefully selected platform and reserves the right to refuse, suspend, archive, modify or remove any listing that, in the opinion of knitmapp, no longer aligns with:

  • the quality of the platform

  • the objectives of the platform

  • the integrity of the platform

  • the experience provided to visitors

 

Such decisions may be made at the sole discretion of knitmapp.

8. Closures and Archived Listings

If a business closes, knitmapp may:

  • mark the listing as closed

  • archive the listing

  • convert the listing to a Basic Listing

  • retain historical information about the business

 

The shop owner remains responsible for notifying knitmapp of closures and significant changes.

9. Marketing and Promotion

Knitmapp may use submitted content, published listings, screenshots, excerpts, photographs and related materials for:

  • social media

  • newsletters

  • presentations

  • portfolio purposes

  • marketing materials

  • promotional activities

 

Previously published promotional content does not need to be removed when a listing expires, is cancelled or is terminated.

10. Additional Services

Photography, videography, interviews, copywriting and other custom services are not included in Guide or Story subscriptions unless explicitly stated.

Such services may be offered separately and may be subject to additional agreements and fees.

 

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, all intellectual property rights in content created by or on behalf of knitmapp remain the property of knitmapp.

11. No Guarantee of Results

Knitmapp does not guarantee:

  • website traffic

  • sales

  • customer enquiries

  • visibility

  • rankings

  • search engine performance

  • business results of any kind

 

Participation in knitmapp does not guarantee any commercial outcome.

12. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability 

Information displayed on knitmapp may become outdated or inaccurate over time.

 

Visitors remain responsible for verifying information directly with the relevant business before travelling, making purchases or attending events.

 

Knitmapp shall not be liable for:

  • inaccurate information supplied by third parties

  • changes in opening hours

  • business closures

  • cancelled events

  • unavailable products

  • travel costs

  • accommodation costs

  • indirect losses

  • consequential damages

  • loss of revenue

  • loss of profits

  • reputational damage

 

To the maximum extent permitted by law, knitmapp's total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by the relevant shop owner during the twelve months preceding the claim.

13. Availability of the Platform

Knitmapp may modify, suspend, maintain or discontinue parts of the platform at any time.

 

Temporary interruptions, maintenance periods and technical issues may occur.

 

Knitmapp does not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

14. No Reviews or Ratings

Knitmapp is not a review platform.

 

Knitmapp does not provide public ratings, rankings or review functionality as part of its core platform experience.

15. Termination

A shop owner may cancel a subscription at any time.

 

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current subscription period.

 

Knitmapp may suspend or terminate listings immediately if:

  • payment obligations are not met

  • these Terms are violated

  • content infringes third-party rights

  • misleading information is supplied

  • continued publication is considered harmful to the platform

 

No refunds will be issued unless required by applicable law.

16. Changes to These Terms

Knitmapp may update these Terms from time to time.

 

The most recent version published on the website shall apply.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed exclusively by the laws of the Netherlands.

 

Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms shall be submitted exclusively to the competent courts of the Netherlands.
